Intense Pulsed Light and Laser Treatment

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) has moved to the next phase - IPL can be used for hair reduction, vascular lesions, pigment problems, acne, rosacea and photo-rejuvenation for fine lines.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is light energy that enables large areas to be treated with the specially-designed hand piece. The light emitted from the applicator head is delivered by a number of rapid pulses, which ensure a more controlled treatment while minimising side effects.

Depending on the treatment being carried out, light emitted by the IPL is absorbed by structures in the skin. For hair removal, the melanin in the hair absorbs the light and is heated to a temperature that inhibits the hair's ability to re-grow. For skin rejuvenation various structures absorb the light and repair the damage caused by ageing and the sun by enhancing the skin's own collagen production.

Intense Pulsed Light, although not a laser, is ideal for the treatment of superficial skin lesions. The advantage of IPL is that large areas can be treated quickly.

Using IPL for Hair Reduction and Removal

Red light is absorbed by pigment in the hair shaft, heating up the follicle and preventing further re-growth without damaging the surrounding skin.

IPL - Highly Effective for Acne and Rosacea Treatment

Yellow light is used to destroy the bacteria P. acnes. This bacteria colonises the sebaceous gland in the skin and blocks it causing acne. Intense Pulsed Light eradicates the bacteria and gently heats up the skin around the spots, producing collagen that boosts the healing process.

IPL for Pigmented and Vascular Lesions

Yellow light is used to treat pigment irregularities and is effective for treating vascular conditions on the face or body. Excellent results are achieved with liver spots, age spots, freckles, thread veins and rosacea.

IPL for Photorejuvenation

Intense Pulsed Light is ideal for gently and effectively treating prematurely aged skin. A combination of red and yellow light smoothes away fine lines and wrinkles. The light also stimulates collagen production which in turn causes a lifting and tightening effect on the skin, as well as evening out minor blemishes. Younger, fresher skin is more obvious.
